Product Description

Product Description

This book looks in detail at the 440 species of European butterflies. Showcasing the stunning macro photography of the authors, this is a photographic field guide with a difference. Detailed text provides information on features such as identification, confusion species, habitat, lifestyle and larval host plant, accompanied by accurate range maps. The photographs have been carefully selected to allow identification from views of upperwing and, where possible, underwing. This comprehensive and detailed book is the ideal companion for anyone interested in European butterflies.

Useful fiejd guide 20 Oct 2011
Format:Paperback
I wanted a guide that was not too complicated or assumed some prior knowledge of the subject. it fulfils both these requirements and more. Great photographs of open and closed wings as well as easy-to-use guide to distribution info. Fits well into pocket for field use. A good buy for beginners and easier to use than the Collins Guide. A good buy. Would recommend it unreservedly.

I ordered this book for a friend who is a biologist and has an interest in butterflies. The reason i chose this book was because of the positive reviews i read about it and i have to admit when i received it i was not disappointed. The book contains a plethora of maps, images and drawings and a comprehensive amount of information on the various species of butterflies. My friend also told me he was very happy with the book and the info it contained. I would definitely recommend this book to people that want to get to know more about butterflies.
