Product Description

Quick, simple, effective Pilates routines for busy people. Gentle, controlled, low-impact exercise that's safe and effective for people of all ages and fitness levels. Especially good for easing back pain and preparing for pregnancy and birth. Follows the structure of the day, with step-by-step sequences for morning, afternoon and evening, and for when you're at work, home or travelling. Whatever you do for a living, the chances are that you cram your days full of chores and spend week after week promising yourself some time to relax, de-stress and re-energize, but never actually managing to fit it in. If this sounds like you, A Busy Persons Guide to Pilates is just what you need to help you snatch a few moments out of your hectic schedule to make Pilates part of your daily routine. Pilates is gentle thinking exercise that requires no special equipment and helps your mind and body to work in harmony to produce a healthy, toned, flexible body and a calm, relaxed mind. Here, in clear step-by-step sequences, you'll discover how to use posture and breathing as key elements in strengthening and lengthening all the main muscles of the body, helping you to eliminate aches and pains, improve posture and muscle tone, and stimulate that vital feeling of all-round well-being. All these exercises that he has taught in this book, will benefit you in every aspect of your daily life. Of course the exercises are either floor/matwork, standing or sitting, and then he shows for instance the proper way to vacuum and that actually each and every motion can have Pilates exercises incorporated into them, such as standing, sitting, walking etc. The pictures are great! Each exercise is carefully yet briefly explained and it is such a nice basic book for anyone new to the method.

Alan Herdman has written a wonderful book that gives examples of how you can incorporate Pilates into your everyday life. It covers every aspect of life, starting your day, travelling, at work, unwinding, and for pregnancy. He has even shown exercises for doing Pilates while you do the housework. He has just covered EVERYTHING! Travelling by plane, train, car, hotel, in the bedroom, bathroom, kitchen.

Ideal book 26 Jun 2011
I was looking for Pilates techniques I could practice anywhere without having to go to a class, and it is exactly what does this book.
It is just perfect for me and actually I practice more since I bought it. 10 minutes a day are better than 1 h class a week. Every movement is really well explained and easy to do.
