I was given this book by my disseration tutor to help me write my methodology for my MSc. I liked it so much, I bought the company. No, really I liked it so much I bought my own.
Not only did it help me explain my methodology, it offered advice on how to get started on the chapters I didn't know what to do with, what to do if I'd done nothing and the deadline loomed, how to analyse my data without killing myself over it and provided numerous examples of other peoples work. Despite having never written a dissertation before I feel confident that I'm on the right lines, and know where I'll turn if it all goes wrong and my tutor is unavailable. In fact I wish I'd bought it before I'd even started as the advice on chosing a research area would have been very useful in selecting a topic.
I can't recommend it enough. It may be a bit more pricey than some, but it offers much much more. If you're reading this knowing you'll never get it done, or not knowing what to do, this book can only help, and it won't make you feel a fool while you're doing it either.
PS I'd like to thak the authors for providing sensible, readable and valuable advice during the most stressful period of my academic career. You're as good as therapy and much cheaper!
