Product Description

Product Description

Hartman/DesJardins Buseinss Ethics is designed to prepare the student to apply an ethical decision-making model, not only in this ethics course but throughout her or his business discipline. This model teaches students ethical skills, vocabulary, and tools to apply in everyday business decisions and throughout their business courses. The authors speak in a sophisticated yet accessible manner while teaching the fundamentals of business ethics. Hartman’s professional background in law and her teaching experience in business curriculum, combined with DesJardins’ background in philosophy results in a broad language, ideal for this approach and market. The authors’ goal is to engage the student by focusing on cases and business scenarios that students already find interesting. Students are then asked to look at the issues from an ethical perspective.

From the Publisher

Perspectives in Business Ethics, 2e, has an innovative table of contents: brief text segments are followed by a variety of examples including cases of all lengths and readings from both popular press and academic articles.
In-text icons identify different resources used to study ethical issues: Icons identify articles & exercises, case studies, electronic communication; legal case, literature, and other resources.
A revised Chapter 11 now covers ethical implications of technology as a topic in and of itself, addressing such hot topics as e-mail privacy and cyber ethics.
Coverage of ethics in finance and accountancy are now covered in one chapter this edition (chapter 10), instead of two chapters (chapters 10 and 11 in the 1st edition).
Between 35-40% of the readings featured in Perspectives in Business Ethics are completely new for the 2nd Edition.
MORE: Management Supersite: The 2nd Edition features additional web based material posted on our Management Supersite, M.O.R.E. It will include links to cited articles and other resources to help students understand current business ethics issues in the news. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

Should have received further editing before publication 18 Jan 2011
By Tim Ehat - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This new edition sports new chapter readings and examples, but, unfortunately, these new additions have many typos and other signs of poor editing. Must have been rushed out to be ready for a new semester. ...Is it ethical to rush a textbook through the editing process, sacrificing utility and fitness for purpose, to make more money?

According to my students, it rocks! 9 Aug 2007
By Dr. Joy - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Used this textbook for a Spring 2007 Ethics class and the students loved it -- they told me it was very approachable and very readable. Now if only Laura would put together a Leadership and Ethics textbook...

Don't Take A Class Just To Buy This Book 31 Dec 2010
By A. Krause - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I mean it. This book is worth reading even if you're not in b-school and not taking a class on ethics. It is well written, well structured and well integrated. I enjoyed the book so much that I kept it instead of selling it back. I also wrote the authors thank-you emails because it's rare to get an academic textbook that is worth the paper its printed on these days. (I should have thanked the editors in part- this book contained no errors in fact, errors in spelling or errors in grammar.)
