Product Description

Product Description

By encouraging students to explore the challenges and opportunities managers face in the business environment, this text will provide students with a solid foundation from which to build upon their business knowledge.

From the Publisher
Business environment model: The text introduces and analyses the business environment model and presents tools and methods of assessment to analyse the model, allowing students to view the business environment both internally and externally to determine business strategies.
Holistic Approach: The 4e has moved away from the marketing emphasis of the 3e towards a more broad outlook of the business environment, helping students to understand how business organisations operate in economic, political, social, technological, and legal environments. `Thinking around the subject' boxes have been developed to encourage students to think about the business environment in a broader context.
The international scene: As a result of the increasing globalisation of business, a chapter has been dedicated to the international business environment, allowing students to relate what they have learnt to a broader international context.
Currency: The 4e has strengthened its currency by reflecting the most up to date changes in the business environment and incorporating them into the text.
Pedagogy: Comprehensive range of learning features and assessment material is integrated throughout the text to support students' study and reinforce topics covered in each chapter. Chapter objectives at the start of the chapter serve as a useful guide for both lecturers and students, highlighting what the author aims to achieve in each chapter. Each chapter concludes with insightful vignettes, review questions, a chapter summary and links to other chapters, which serve as a valuable revision tool and encourage students to cross-reference throughout the book tying the themes of the book together. Additionally, there are extensive suggestions for further reading and websites to allow students the opportunity to explore issues raised in the chapter.
Case studies are integrated throughout the text to encourage students to apply their acquired knowledge to practical situations in the business environment.
Extensive online support: is provided for both lecturers and students, including an instructor's manual, cases, essay questions, Power Points, revision notes. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource book for students of this topic, 28 Oct 2000
By A Customer
Most books in this category have a tendancy to be boring. 'The Business Environment' however tries to up to date and enjoyful, in a truely successful manner. A mixture in the font and colour of the text make the subjct pleasing to the eye. Therefore in my view, the content of the book sinks right in. The text is blended well with diagrams, so the information is readily accessable. As a student of the subject at degree level, I have found this book a fantastic resource, and thoroughly recommend it to others.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Business Environment, 27 April 2003
By Fiona (N. Lincs United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
Topics covered include Micr and Macroeconomics, Law, the Political Environment, the Business Environment and Markets, making this a well written book which gives up-to-date information and balanced opinions. The language used and content make this book a versatile resourse for students ranging from A Level through to higher education. The case studies, review and discussion questions, together with the assignments should prove useful to both students and tutors alike.

4.0 out of 5 stars Business - made friendlier!!!!!!!!!, 29 Mar 2004
I am currently in my final year at uni doing m/cycle engineering. I was really worried when i was told we would be studying and graded on business appliance.

However our lecturers recomended this book, so i went ahead and bought it. supprisingly it has helped a great deal in my understanding of the module. it has helped me through my mid-semester exam, and my revision for my final.

This book is good for all those wanting to gain knowlege about the business environment and how it works.

A VERY HELPFUL BOOK TO HAVE!!!
