I bought the Bushnell Tour V2 having used a Golf Plus GPS for a number of years and having to pay an annual fee to be able to download new courses. Having played with a number of golfers who were using a Bushnell, I tried one every now and again and had a problem holding it steady enough to register the distance to the pin. Lets face it, the reason you would chose a rangefinder is to accurately obtain the yardage to the pin and not just the front or back of the green. I bit the bullet and went ahead and bought one. I can honestly say that it was the best decision I have ever made regarding golf equipment. In no time at all, having read and digested the instructions, I was easily locking onto the pin. You don't have to be rock steady to make it work....just read the instructions and you will understand. I am often asked if I can hit a club an exact distance, and of course the answer is no. So why then is knowing the exact distance important. I believe that the answer is all in the head!...If you know the distance another variable is removed from your shot, and lets face it there are plenty enough as it is. It gives you the confidence to know that provided you have a fair idea of how far you hit your best shots with each club (a) unless you thin your shot, you won't be over the back of the green, (b) you know how far to clear that bunker or to ensure you will be short of that bunker or hazard. In case you are wondering, I am 62 and play of a handicap of 11, and players who used to tell me these rangefinders are a waste of time are now asking me "how far from here?" on a regular basis. One thing I have noticed is that the Bushnell is powered by a CR2 battery and there is no warning whatsoever that it is about to run out. Mine gave up the ghost on the 9th hole last Saturday with no warning. The Curry's / Comets / Halfords of this world do not stock these batteries and I eventually bought one from our local independent electical shop for £5. I later checked Amazon and found you can get then for about £1.80 (Will I never learn). I have ordered 2 and will carry a spare in my golf bag in future. You get so used to having your Bushnell you feel lost without it.
