Product Description

Book Description

Whiskey distilling was first officially recorded in the Bushmills area in 1608, when a licence was granted to legally make whiskey in this part of Co. Antrim.

Four hundred years on, Bushmills is Ireland's oldest whiskey distillery. Probably the first, and definitely the last of its original distilleries, it is the sole survivor of an industry that once reigned supreme over the whisk(e)y world.

Respected whiskey writer Peter Mulryan retells the story of Bushmills - an epic tale of alchemist monks, whiskey smugglers, ingenious businessmen and independent-minded distillers.

The Distillery has provided unique access to their archives to make this the ultimate guide to Bushmills whiskeys.

Photographs and previously unpublished material throughout.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best 400 ever, 29 Oct 2008
This review is from: Bushmills: Four Hundred Years in the Making (Hardcover)
This book is wonderfully crafted and it brings the Bushmills story bang up to date. The book features the new Bank of Ireland £5 note which has the iconic view of Bushmills on the Northern Irish currency.

The best chapter has to be that of the stories from the men and women themselves, there is a genuine wit and warmth that is portrayed by both the whiskey and the people which make it so special. It is the book to buy if you cant visit the Distillery itself - I must confess that this is the BEST distillery visit I have ever been on and the whiskey is rather good also and I am Scottish.
