Good, but may need customising depending on your needs. It mostly served as motivation to build my own kit. I wish I had known about these flaws before buying it -- better to build your own kit really.

Items I left out of my final tin:
* Knife - not very good: a non-locking, 3.5cm blade with a very narrow (approx. 1mm) grind on it. It can just about be used to strike sparks off of the ferrocerium fire-starting rod, with a lot of effort. I'm using the included striker for that, and the razor blades for any skinning.
* Ferrocerium handle - it's huge (as is the rod itself, but I think I'll keep it) and poorly attached; I could easily pull off the handle with not much force using my bare hands.
* Pencil - In a survival situation I doubt you'd need a pencil. Feel free to argue otherwise.
* Packaging - the Wind & Waterproof Matches come in a huge plastic wrapper.
* Candle - is quite large for my kit, so I replaced it with a normal finger-type candle shaved down into a rectangle.

If you're wondering what's in this kit, it contains all the items in the "Combat Survival Kit", detailed in the next paragraph. And as this is the "Military Survival Kit" it has extra items detailed in the second paragraph.

Water resistant tin - Vinyl tape - Button compass - Knife - Matches - Pencil - Purification tablets (10) - Snare wire - Candle - Fireball Flint & striker - Fishing kit - Whistle - Sewing kit + 2 Buttons - Safety pins - Wire saw - Survival instructions - Accident evaluation form

This upgraded vacuum-packed version of the combat survival tin, also Includes:
Signal mirror - Tin hanging handle - Tinder • Water bags (2) - Single edged razors (2) - Adhesive plasters

Weight: 220g (7.7oz)
Size: 11 x 8 x 2.8cm (4.5” x 3 x 1”)

Fast delivery. All items within kit were present and accounted for. Everything looks good quality and durable. Would definately buy from BCB again. Many thanks.

Has everything I expected from this. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that when it arrives, not all the items were able to be held in the tin without use of black tape which had been put around it. It will pop open, negating the waterproof aspect of this kit. However, after I customised the kit a bit (removed the knife and a couple of other objects) it was no problem. I still keep the tape on tho just in case but that will lose it's stickiness over time..

Maybe I am missing finding it on the page. But what is in the survival kit? The description does not say and the image is rubbish so you cannot see either.

As far as i am concerned, BCB offer the best value for money when it comes to survival and edge camping equipment. I bought this kit with the intention of modifying the contents once i had decided exactley what i needed and what i didnt. For example, the knife went (its not very good) and was replaced with something better. This did eventually lead me on to needing a slightly bigger tin which i suppose you could say defeats the object but it is still pocket sized! In short, this tin offers a good grounding for what you may need and inpsires you to think about what other objects you want in there. well worth having.
