Kosmische Folk 8 Mar 2011
By Haggy
Format:Audio CD
This is a delightful album. Not surprising given the musicians on display - Conny Veit and Florian Fricke (Popol Vuh) notably - delivering sparkling, Eastern-tinged early 70s "krautrock" with a folky twist. 'This Morning' - the album's opener - has appeared on a number of compilations, and is one of the most transcendent, shimmering pop songs I have ever had the pleasure of hearing. The vocals of Sabine Merbach (RIP) are remarkable. Based on Dee Brown's book about the plight of the North American Indians, it is far away from the worst excesses of prog concept albums (with perhaps the exception of the dodgy bonus track). This is a sensitive, lyrical collections of songs - just as you would expect of Veit and Fricke - with beautiful organ and guitar interludes, that should really feature in Vuh discographies.

Gila-'Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee' (Garden Of Delights) 20 Aug 2004
By Mike Reed - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
'Bury My Heart...'('73) was Gila's second and final studio effort,as it differs QUITE a bit from their self-titled 1971 debut lp.Less psychedelic space rock and MORE of just a good progressive release,I think.Noticed that several members of Popol Vuh had joined up with Connie Veit for the making of this record.Best tunes are "This Morning" the somewhat mind-blowing "The Buffalo Are Coming" and "Little Smoke".Know one fellow krautrock fan that mentioned he thought Popul Vuh mainman Florian Fricke(R.I.P.) had ruined Gila.I don't agree with that at all as I believe he merely guided the band in a different direction.Gets BETTER with each listen.Should appeal to fans of Ashra,Be Bop Deluxe,Cluster and Brian Eno.

'Buyer Beware' 5 April 2010
By Steve Zubal - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Before you purchase this disc you might want to contact the seller and confirm that it's a 'Garden Of Delights' release. I recieved what appears to be a bootleg...It has a single card inlay, no bonus track and no record co. listed at all. I kept it for half price mainly because no others were available. As far as music content a low 5 star rateing seems appropriate. The unusual factor pushes it to this high rateing. Also it's subject matter (though dark) is as real as it gets...the sence of loss the 'Native Americans' feel is palpable. The sadness runs deep as one might expect...the over-all feeling though has that timeless sence...track 4 for instance is an acoustic guitar instrumental...it recalls to my memory shades of 'Zeppelin 3' and 'Roy Harpers' "Stormcock". Track 5 is a song collage with excellent electric guitar and synthesizer that lead into tribal ritual rythm and chant...here I can imagine humans in an altered state examining visions from a spiritual beyond. These two songs are the main reason you want to buy this gem. Each song has it's merrits and the sound is mixed well, not over-produced and not perfect. The female vocals give the album more texture...along the lines of 'Grace Slick' and 'Renate Knaup' though not as powerful, like 'Celia Humphris' of 'The Trees'. This is definitly "Head-Music" nothing to dance to. If you like weird with warm ala "Blows Against The Empire" or "Vive La Trance" add this to your cart. It's short about 34 minutes...remember I don't have the bonus track...It is peace-pipe worthy confirmed.
