Our Story
Since 1984 Burt’s Bees has been expertly harnessing the unique power of bees & nature to create authentic natural beauty and total skin wellbeing. From humble origins in rural Maine, USA, Burt’s Bees has come a long way since the days when Burt & Roxanne made beeswax candles and lip balm on the kitchen stove; selling them at local craft fairs.
Today, Burt’s Bees produces a complete range of natural skin care products that utilise the best nature has to offer, from body lotions to baby shampoo, intensive facial serums to foot creams. Our naturally nourishing products are kind to your skin and hair, and the way we make and package them is kind to the environment.
Of course none of our products or ingredients is ever tested on animals, and we operate a Fixed Cut-Off Date (FCOD) of 2004, which sends a clear message that we are not prepared to profit from animal tested ingredients. The FCOD is widely accepted by animal welfare organisations as the Gold standard of cruelty-free commitment.

Pros:
+ In comparison to the original Burt's Bees mix, this one feels a little bit better on the lips.
Cons:
- I found that it doesn't last very long on your lips. It begins to feel dry after the initial softness that lasts for maybe five-ish minutes and forms into little clumps on your lips, which easily leads to having to wipe it off and reapply numerous times a day.
- The lipbalm actually feels very waxy. It has beeswax in it, so, right now, you might be thinking "Well, it has beeswax in it, isn't that natural?". In comparison to my previous lipbalm, which consisted mostly of beeswax, this product actually feels rather sticky and, like I already said, dry. The previous product I used never did, it felt moist and at times, you could hardly even tell it was there. (Based on the colour of this lipbalm (nearly white) and texture, as well as the fact that the lipbalm doesn't get any softer even if you keep it in your pocket, I would assume that it's not actually that high in beeswax.)
- It didn't make my lips feel any softer in the long run, even if they might have done so for a while after applying.
+- It is better than a lot of the regular lipbalms you can get, in my opinion, it was actually better than the original kind. The problem is, however, that even then you can do better than this.
+- It smells really sweet. The scent has a hint of honey to it, but either honey smells different in my country, or then this just isn't quite it.
(Please do note that I wrote this review as an inhabitant of an extremely cold country and I tested this product during the winter.)
Burt's Bees products are generally pretty good so if you like them and like the honey flavour you can't go wrong.
A great, and cheap stocking filler for the lady in your life.
- Not overpowering in taste
- Long lasting for dry lips
- Nice packaging - so not embarrassing to use in public!
