I have been using this facial scrub daily for several years. I have sensitive skin prone to redness, oily in patches and normal in others. I use this scrub every morning and follow with the burts bees rosewater toner. I always get compliments about how lovely my skin looks. I find that this scrub gives me a good clense without drying out my skin and making my face feel horrible and tight like many other washes and scrubs I have tried before. It lasts for ages too as you only need a small amount of the paste to have a great effect. My brother has similar skin to myself, and as he is in his early 20's still suffers from spot breakouts. He found this scrub to be better than all the products for blemished skin as it didnt dry out his face. To give a more rounded view, I did but the burts bees lemon and poppyseed scrub as well to try. It is more oily, and to heavy for my skin type to use every day. I use it maybe once a month as a face pack alternative, and my fiancee likes to use it to wash his face before he shaves. It is lovely for his skin, and leaves him looking fresh as a daisy (he says he loves the smell of it too!)
I hope that helps... For my full regime I use this face scrub, burts bees rosewater toner and then Avene anti redness light moisturising cream, which has an spf 20 in it (want to keep the wrinkles and melanoma's at bay!)

I have used a small pot of this scrub, available in Burt's Bees Facial Kit. It's very thick and grainy. To use it, you need to take a small amount on your hand, and mix it with a little water, to form a paste. It has a great smell reminding me of home baking, I could mostly smell cloves and nutmeg. However, I found the grains a bit too coarse, and the scrub scratched my face a bit too hard.

The ingredients list:
Vegetable glycerin, sweet almond oil, almonds, oat flour, orange peel powder, rose petal powder, pecan shell powder, grapefruit seed extract, nutmeg powder, clove powder, orange oil, tocopherol (vitamin E), rosemary extract, soybean oil, water, glucose, fragrance, canola oil, sodium chloride, glucose oxidase, lactoperoxidase, geraniol, limonene.

The only scrub I use. You need to take a small bit of the scrub, and add a few drops of water to make a paste.

Looking at other reviews I agree it might not be very pretty looking, but its natural... you cant have it all.. most natural products seem a little different to what we're used too because they don't contain the nasty ingredients that make something esthetically pleasing or give it a good consistency.

On the other hand, the smell is to die for. It reminds me of Christmas time... smells like cloves and cinnamon and mulled wine... YUM!

The size of the grains are fine for my skin - I have normal/oily. This one is more gentle then the burts bees peach and willowbark scrub which I thought was a little to harsh. I would call this a 'medium' scrub - probably the consistency of castor sugar (possibly even smaller).

Lasts for ages...probably about 4-5 months with 2 applications per week (according to my beauty therapist you shouldn't scrub more often then this as it removes the skins natural oil which is important?).

It is not ruined if you get a bit of water in it. Sure, you should try to avoid it, but its not that difficult to make sure you don't get the whole jar wet.. and I use mine in the shower.

Great product!

I have used this facial scrub for years now and it's part of my daily routine. It comes in a small glass jar but you only need to scoop a small amount out to use on your face. The smell is amazing, it reminds me of christmas and christmas cake all mixed together. But the best bit is the way my skin feels after using it. So incredibly soft and very clean but not dry at all. No other face wash has had this effect on my skin (early 40s!) and its the only cleaning product I use on my face. It doesn't spoil if it gets water in it, it just gets a bit runny so best to try and keep it dry. But it still works a treat.

I bought this after reading a number of positive reviews and feeling unsatisfied with a number of other products on the market, including the much-praised St Ives, apricot scrub. All of these I had "borrowed" from my girlfreind and was also keen to see if there were more male focussed products out there.

After being initially disappointed in terms of the feel of the scrub, and I am nevertheless faced (no pun intended) with the reality that after weekly use of this for 6 weeks or so, my skin is better than it has been for years.

I do not shave every day and problems had come with in-growing hairs mainly just before or after shaving. It was always the same specific points on my face that had this issue.

The scrub does not feel like a scrub at all, and looking for a "he man" product, I thought I had wasted my money and the product would be useless. It is like a crumbly, water soluble wax that you mix with water to apply. One can hardly feel the little particles, although they are there. Yet - it seems to work. I have taken more care with my shaving at the same time, so I can't give total credit to Burt...yet.

I think it's worth a try if you stick with it. Very reasonably priced too. It does smell a little - of citrus and cinammon - but it is a fresh smelling fragrance and not particularly perfumed: so gender neutral!
