Found this book useful, as I have been stuck in an exercise rut ever since childhood ended and the heady days of play drew to a near end. This book helped me to understand what as is important in a work out and the best way to do it. No good at Zumba, running or aerobics - no matter!

Mr. O'Donnelll has succeeded in writing a very practical, effective, and efficient book on how to get lean and fit (and stay that way for the rest of your life) with very practical, effective, and efficient strategies and routines based on sound principles and concepts.

His rationale and methodology epitomize the true-to-life maxims of "knowledge is power" and "less is more." So, if you're a person with a busy lifestyle but one who is truly motivated and committed to making a long term change for the better, this book is for you. The "system" delineated within its pages is genuinely "real life" simple and practical. It's one that you can stick with for the long run.

Now, I could summarize the book and highlight all the key points but, out of respect for Mr O'Donnell, I'm not going to do that so as not to steal his thunder.

Lest you think I'm a friend of Mr O"Donnelll and full of hyperbole, I'm not on both counts. I don't know the man or arbitrarily praise something when it's not warranted. I'm just the kind of guy who likes to give credit when it's genuinely due. Anyway, I assure you that purchasing this book will be a worthwhile investment if you follow his plan and at $2.99, it's more than a bargain.

The one and only criticism I had of this book was with its lack of descriptive instructional photos within for the exercises espoused. However, I rescinded this thought when I discovered the appendix section provides a direct link to his website that has videos and other resources which clearly describe and demonstrate the exercises he advocates in his book.

Bottom line, the man and his methods make a whole lot of good sense. As a result, this book is definitely one of the best, most practical guides I've come across in this genre. Oh, this is coming from someone who has his Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and is already in good condition but remains the perpetual student constantly checking out what others have to offer in order to continuously learn and refine.

I am so grateful you wrote this & shared it with the world! I am 43 years old & on a life-long journey for fitness of body, mind & spirit. Mike clearly shares his knowledge with the layperson in mind, real people, real results, real simple. Anyone can incorporate this way of life & realize you don't have to workout all day long to balance out your life with fitness, & a little spiritual fitness, to boot. I love his simple lifestyle, as, for me, this carries into all areas of life, keep it simple, keep it enjoyable, fast, intense, done...what more could you want. Mr. O'Donnell is a genuine fitness trainer who struggles with finding the answer to the question of "How is it we get fit?" those who muster up the courage to go to the gym and slog through the grinding routine of exercise machines, weights in every form, and diets that are complicated, even daunting in their requirements usually end up disappointed and after considerable work find themselves right back where they started.
Mr. O'Donnell encourages simple body weight exercises , done with intensity over 15 minutes. He encourages the reader to play, walk, move, transforming exercise into something that is a simple activity of your every day life.

the book is a good read, and I think if you take his ideas to heart you might actually wake up one day being the fit person you have wanted to be. No magic pill. No quick solution. Just some consistent work and common sense.

I wanted a short, simple book to give me ideas for HIT workouts and also information about the timing of the intervals. To that end, I was reasonably happy with this little offering. It does give some good information and it does provide some useful tips on planning intervals. It could be far better but for what it is and the cost, it's ok.

What I do not like is that, even though the author is a college educated engineer, the writing is horrible and the thoughts not put together at all well. The book, or booklet, is not edited well if at all. I almost didn't finish it because the writing is so bad but I did get through it. I skipped some parts that were useless to me.

There are no doubt better books on this important topic and I urge you to search them out and go to a well-known author and publisher. Having said that, you may find this little book of some value and it can't hurt to read it and take whatever you can from it.
