One of my favourite films of all time. Nene and Angel are hit men, passionately devoted to each other - though the relationship is undergoing some strain. Angel hears voices, and withdraws physically from Nene, who is confused and frustrated. They welcome being part of a new heist, seeing an opportunity to regain their former closeness. But things go seriously wrong, leaving the four men involved in the crime trapped in Uruguay, with the police coming closer and closer to discovering them. As if that isn't enough, Nene is drawn to prostitute Giselle, while Angel comes apart at the seams.
This is a really striking film, brutal and terrifyingly romantic. The relationship between Angel and Nene is unforgettable, due to the performances of the two leads (Leonardo Sbaraglia and Eduardo Noriega II), and the characters are absolutely fascinating. The intensity of Nene and Angel's love is gripping - the pairing of these strange, broken characters works beautifully, it becomes unthinkable to have one without the other, like Rhett and Scarlett, Elizabeth and Darcy, Cathy and Heathcliff.
There is certainly a lot of violence, but it is ultimately the powerful love story that remains with me. It's an absolutely haunting film and I can't recommend it highly enough.

When one leaves a theater or finishes a movie, and is left either speechless or numb from the impact of such, then one has had an experience deserving of a review. This is one such movie, which has at its heart the exploration of a relationship devoid of logic and reason, and yet one which imbues love and determination. One partner clearly suffering a psychosis due to his own mental illness causes his lover to enter a world of self-sacrifice, self destruction and the ultimate realisation of truth. love has no understanding in such circumstances, and would seem to a perverse irony within itself.

The script is brutal as is the vision of the director. The acting is brilliant, as each character delves into their very beings to portray a crude, brutal honesty, which comes from life experience. At times one forgets that these are actors portraying a story, and your experience is of each minute is crisp, succinct and breath taking. The fact that the movie is based on fact, makes the impact even more surreal.

This movie is one of the best non-English language movies I've ever seen and I've been working with such films for many years. It is intensely erotic in the most sophisticated manner. The scene with the two men lying resting on each other and talking is beautiful- oh such "pillow" talk! I normally don't like violence in films but the ending of this film was perfect as a tragic expression of the culmination of an extraordinary love relationship. Here's to walking on the wild side!!!

This is a great movie... a overlooked neo-noir masterpiece...
It is based on a true story, of two gay lovers, who as part of
a gang, rob a security van in 1960s Buenos Aries , and then
have to hide out in Montevideo...

If you like, good gritty storytelling, that holds no punches,
this is for you... but be warned, there is a lot of sex in it,
Gay and Hetero...

Surprisingly gritty and engaging film. The central roles are brilliantly played. Plenty of tense action. A must see.
