JACK RABBIT SPEAKS

A tall figure stands alone, waiting to be engulfed in flames. It is the Burning Man, the giant wooden centerpiece of Nevada's famous weeklong arts festival. Every year, thousands flock to the middle of the desert to push the limits of creativity and outrageousness. Dex Edden is not one of them. A computer programmer, Dex has come to the wild and wooly festival only to please his boss. Out of the blue, he will be a witness to murder.

When a masked visitor enters the RV where Dex and his boss are camped out, Dex's tiny oasis in the middle of the weird and unnerving festival scene is shattered in a moment of blinding violence. Now Dex is wanted by the killer, who fled into the desert -- and by the police. For Dex, survival depends on blending in with the oddballs and eccentrics in an alien landscape. For on the final, fateful night of Burning Man, the flames will rise -- and the masks will come off....

Burners like to read! 16 Sep 2005
By R. Marino - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Captain Fun (Cortez) does a great job of capturing the flavor of the most unique place on Earth, Black Rock City. As he shows our hero Dex the ropes, we get to see the playa again through the eyes of a virgin. Fun also does a great job of explaining the customs of BRC very well, gifting, participating, leave no trace, and my favorite, safty third!

I loved reading this book because it took me on one more playa adventure while I was decompressing in the default world.

Let this story of murder be a lesson to you all that BRC isn't for everybody. Newbies and virgins think twice before you make the trip to Nowhere...Darth Bunny is out there!

Must Read For Burners!!! 11 Nov 2005
By Robin Mingle - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This book is SOOOO fun, great descriptions, great insights, I have been savoring it.

I don't know if I would like it as much if I were not a burner but it is very descriptive if someone is looking for a narrative of someone experience rather than an essay about the concept of the event.

2 Thumbs up!!

Welcome Home 14 Sep 2005

A wonderful read for a burner who misses home. It really reminds you of all the reasons you fell in love with BRC to begin with and makes you miss it that much more.
