These old images are sure to evoke strong memories for many and show newcomers and the younger generation how things used to be in Burnley. From rapid growth created by the textile industry to the development of various local government and social concerns such as the Victoria Hospital and the art gallery and museum at Towneley Hall, the photographs illustrate some of the many changes that have taken place between 1850 and 1960.
