4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Gothic Doom! 12 May 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
There's not much to say that hasn't been said below really, except if you've never heard of these guys until now, and you really miss Anathema when they were interesting, original and still had testicles, then you might want to check out the first four/five albums by these guys. They too went down hill, even further down than Anathema, but for five albums, this is quality stuff that any real Anathema fan should own...

...But these guys aren't just an Anathema 'cover band', they do (did) have their own unique identity, nevertheless, this is directly aimed towards Duncan Patterson era Anathema, My Dying Bride, Tiamat and to some extent, early Paradise Lost.

I'd say, the first three albums are slightly better than this one, although the first two albums do suffer from poor production, and even though that usually doesn't bother me too much, it kind of does with these guys. So with that said, depending on my mood, this could either be my fourth favourite or second favourite album by these guys, either way, it's a classic.

Also, if you're looking at this, check out the bands "My Silent Wake" and Duncan Patterson's new band "Alternative 4" if you haven't already!

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Outstanding... 10 Dec 2001
By Teufel Zek - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I don't think words can express the emotion conveyed on this album. While it is easy to dismiss them as an Anathema or a softer, gentler My Dying Bride imitation, I think the simple fact is that this man has probably one of the best voices in the entire genre. Quite possibly he has the best voice in music right now. The lyrics are simple yet quite meaningful given a couple listens. I think anyone that has days when they don't even want to get out of bed should listen to this. It sure as hell won't perk you up, but it'll definitly relate. And I think that's the best thing an album or a band can do.

5.0 out of 5 stars Melancholic and Beautiful 25 Aug 2001
By Kim - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Burning: A Wish just makes me want to cry. The music is so powerful and enthralling. These men are true musicians and their lyrics are powerful as well. Christopher Shcmid's voice is just soul-bearing and the symphonic range of the instruments is just beautiful. When I first bought this album I must have listened to it over and over and over again 95 times in a row!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Album! 17 Sep 2005

Just get this! Very good album overall, my favourite song being Diotima.

If you like this you should like: Lacrimosa, Katatonia, Anathema, Stratovarius, Adagio, etc
4.0 out of 5 stars potent 26 July 2005
By Brian Skala - Published on Amazon.com

This cd is just as good as Fall, I will follow but it's a little more melacholic sounding. It's somewhat mid tempo gothic metal with some doom parts from time to time. I tend to like the following release a little better but this is one fine album from Lacrimas.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic 25 May 2001
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com

If you have always enjoyed Lacrimas Profundere you will not be disappointed with this album...at all. If you are new to doom metal this is a fantastic place to start for you. The musicianship is wonderful as are the vocals. This is a must have for metal fans of any genre.
