Mr Aldrich has to go down as one of the greatest guitar talents in the rock arena...full stop! No nonesense riffing and soaring guitar breaks. He doesn't hide behind technical jiggery pokery and wham bars - just plug the trusty old Les Paul into one of Jim Marshall's finest and off we go! Truly outstanding rock music played by a very talented band and cracking vocalist. I am sure Whitesnake could have this energy if David Coverdale was 35 years younger! Boy, these guys rock!

Actually would have given 4 1/2 stars if I knew how too, this was there debut album and what a debut!! Won't give a track by track review but a must for fans of Van Halen/Whitesnake and Led Zep, Keith St John is an unbelievable vocalist and Doug Aldrich is on guitar-nuff said!!

Let's have a little cookery lesson;
Take one part FOREIGNER, two parts WHITESNAKE, half a cup of DEEP PURPLE and just to spice things up, liberally coat with LED ZEPPELIN - et voila! BURNING RAIN, my friends.....!
Now normally, this kind of mixture would have me screaming for the hills, but somehow, this band just (and I mean JUST!) manage to pull it off. Now whether it's the intensity of the riffing and soloing of Doug Aldrich or the vocalisation of Keith St John that just pushes the music a little more forward than straight rip-off, I am not quite sure, but this is one mutha of an album that screams ROCK N ROLL from the opening lines of "Smooth Locomotion" through "Superstar Train" to my personal favourite, "Jungle Queen" all in very quick succession and all displaying tones and riffs reminiscent of the 4 iconic bands that I mentioned in the mix.
Certainly, apart from a couple of ballads that Mr Coverdale would not be embarrassed to sing, this album simply takes no prisoners so that by the end of the playing time, you will be left with one very big and silly grin all over your face!
If you remotely like the music of Foreigner etc, then this band will certainly cut it for you too!
Buy and enjoy, you won't regret it!

Burning debut 12 July 2008
By Justin G. - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This 1999 self-titled release marked the debut of Burning Rain, a melodic rock band featuring guitarist Doug Aldrich (ex-Lion, Bad Moon Rising, Hurricane, Dio) and vocalist Keith St. John. For some reason, the straightforward hard rock of Bad Moon Rising's later efforts never sat well with me, so Burning Rain was a welcome return to the kind of melodic rock Aldrich was a part of with Lion and Hurricane.

This is an album that draws heavily from both Van Halen and Whitesnake. It alternates between an upbeat party rock sound and a more laid back, blues influenced rock sound. Aldrich is in fine form as always, and St. John's vocals bring to mind David Coverdale. He also sounds a bit like the Cult's Ian Astbury at times. I tend to prefer the band's second album over this one, but this is still a fun rock album to listen to, especially when you consider just how few fun rock & roll albums are made these days.

Burning Rain's debut is a better than average melodic rock album from a better than average melodic rock band. The band would issue one further album - 2000's Pleasure to Burn - before disbanding. Doug Aldrich of course went on to higher profile gigs with Dio and Whitesnake.

Not bad 23 Jun. 2013

I got this after I bought the new one Epic Obsession(which is really good) anyway I think there was a 10 yr. span between these two and it shows. This is the older one and it has some good stuff on it and great playing,Doug's guitar work is always steller, and the band sounds good,I just don't think the songs are as good as the new disc, that said the first two songs are killer and from that point on it is hit and miss, still worth getting though.

LET THE RAIN FALL DOWN 31 Mar. 1999
By atomicchaser@usa.net - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Former Bad Moon Rising guitarist, Doug Aldrich unleashes his new band BURNING RAIN and their solid debut self-titled release. Classic hard rock sound with a bluesy flavor. Featuring rocking tracks like, "Smooth Locomotion", "Jungle Queen" and the melodic mid-tempo mover, "Making My Heart Beat". Doug Aldrich displays his energectic guitar style with lots of power and attitude. Proving why he is one of todays hottest guitar players! The band also features former MEDICINE WHEEL vocalist, Keith St. John and Aldrich's BMR bandmate, Ian Mayo on bass. Fans of hard rock music will definitely get their rocks off with this one. Just hit play and let the rocking begin!

Awesome Sound! 7 Dec. 2013
By Eric Stevens - Published on Amazon.com

Uh, Yeah. Found this album tonight at the used CD store for .95 cents (reissue 2013 album version with 2 bonus tracks), never heard of this group before and very glad I picked it. Then I realized Doug Aldrige is a member of this group and it provided a lot of answers to this bands sound. Impressive engineering, though guitar work reminded me of George Lynch (Lynch Mob) influence even though Aldridge has his own style. Vocals by Keith St. John sort of reminded me of the "The Offspring"s Dexter Holland vocal range, if Holland were to sing in this genre probably would sound the same. So a guess on my part to pick this album for under a dollar was and is worth more searching and getting the other albums in the Burning Rain collection.
