Quite possibly the best live album you never heard!I bought this the day it came out,a pricey Jap Import,£25 quid if my memory is correct, never regretted it,a simply superb disc.
Glenn hughes puts in as fine a performance live as he has ever done, thankfully the overblown histrionics of the Purple days are left in the closet. What you get is a consumate performance from Hughes with a superb band, three of whom were actually members of EUROPE.
Naturally the Purple back catalog is mined, with a stunning quartet from the underrated 'Come Taste The Band' disc with 'Gettin Tighter' and 'You Keep On Moving' particularly impressive whilst his two previous Purple Albums have there title tracks performed to perfection, throw in a stunning 'Lady Double Dealer' and you can die happy.
But there is more three tracks performed superbly from the HUGHES/THRALL album, the crowd reaction to these on par with that of the Purple tracks,'Muscle and Blood' was made for the live arena as was 'Got Your Number' where the crowd go into overdrive. The Trapeze era acknowledged by 'Coast To Coast' another lost classic
The remainder of the disc is made up of solo tracks with the impressive class of 'From Now On' & 'Still In Love With You' highlighting that when the man sings and dispenses with all the screeching he's done in the past,he's a superb singer.
A fantastic live disc that you'll never see listed in the all time great lists, buy it now, you'll realise what everyone's been missing.Absolute class.
