Product Description

Curiosity never killed this cat, but love could have deadly consequences.

Sasha Soskoff has two reasons for moving to Chicago: secure a tenured position in veterinary research medicine, and widen his horizons. After a night at the city’s hottest new club, though, a wrong turn down a dark alley narrows his focus to surviving three muggers. As consciousness fades, he catches a glimpse of his rescuer, whose mere appearance is enough to chase the attackers off.

Neal Harrison doesn’t often have to call on his skills as an ex-Marine to maintain control at his club. But with Sasha, he can’t seem to keep his hands to himself. Yet there’s danger in allowing any close relationships, particularly with a naïve young newcomer. The safety of his business depends on the iron-clad secret he and his ex-Marine buddies all hide.

While Neal seems happy to satisfy Sasha’s insatiable curiosity about the erotic scenes played out in the club’s private rooms, Sasha senses his new lover is holding something back.

When the truth claws its way out amid a night of tribal blood and violence, Neal discovers his lover has a secret of his own. And that the forces arrayed against them all could make a mugging look like a walk in the park…

Warning: Contains explicit, adult situations: male on male, more males on several more males, no-holds-barred erotic scenes, no-claws-barred violence, and love forged in the heat of desire.

A Keeper 25 Sep 2011

I liked this story and I would buy more from these authors. We a veterinarian with animal empathy that is rescued by an ex-military group that became shape shifters after being bitten in Afghanistan. They now run a BDSM club. Then we have turf wars between mobster and shifter gangs. So it's not a boring book. There are also multiple interesting characters. It was a new take on shape shifters that I really liked. I also liked the macho-ness of the characters. This is not a Harlequin remade with men. The characters and story details could have been fleshed out a little more. I hope to see that in their next book. These characters were too interesting to have short interactions with. So far I have about 1000 m/m Kindle books. More than half have been dumped as not worth keeping. This one I am keeping.

Worth the buy 25 Sep 2011

I'd give this book 3 1/2 stars. There was plenty of action in this story that kept it going and I generally liked all the characters. I was also very happy that while there was sex it didn't comprise the entire novel like some of the books I've read. It was also a decent length. This book does leave some minor threads hanging, but by the way the other characters are introduced I can see this book being the beginning of a new series, or at least I hope it is.
Despite it being an enjoyable read I did find some room for improvement. While we got to know the characters reasonably well I wanted to know more because I liked them so much. I wanted to know their histories and what made them tick. Again, this could be solved if there are more books in the future, and at times the mc was able to give us a real good feel of some of the characters, but I wish that rather than getting some really strong glances of the side characters, we got a full blown picture of everyone.
Some warnings, aka, spoilers: You won't want to read this book if multiple partners bother you. The main character likes that type of relationship and so sex scenes of that nature happen more than once. Also, if you dislike characters that almost every other character likes in some way then this story is also not for you. The mc is liked by almost everyone and while that doesn't bother me I know it irritates some people.
There is a d/s club, but the BDMS relationship in this book isn't really what I would call a BDMS relationship. Yes, there's some bondage, some whipping, but the way it's described seems rather light to me and that relationship doesn't leave the bedroom, with the exception of the top being called 'boss' at times.
Overall, enjoyable read. I would have loved for the characters to be fleshed out a little more, but I would buy the sequel if the book had one.

Pleasure to Read 23 Oct 2011

I really enjoyed this book. What I enjoyed most was that there was a story and not just a continuous run of sexual encounters. The characters had substance and I liked them. The length of the story was satisfying-----over 4000 locations. It seems like a good number of the stories average about 1200-1800 too short for the pricing and not enough time to really develop a good story.
You won't be sorry if you purchase this book.
