Product Description

Mitch Laddie is a young man with a big future. Mitch has been championed by guitar sensation Walter Trout for the past couple of years and Walter infact helped Mitch sign to Provogue Records with whom he recorded his first CD This Time Around . Despite the CD s success around Europe Provogue were focused on Joe Bonamassa and Mitch felt that the label was too big to be involved in artist development. Mitch Laddie took stock and then wrote the Burning Bridges CD writing songs that seem way beyond his years which when coupled with some brilliant guitar playing leaves one in no doubt that here is a talent destined for the top. Walter Trout adds his endorsement on the sleeve of the CD describing Mitch as the finest of the new generation of guitarists true praise from a master of his craft. Mitch is on tour throughout the year beginning with six dates opening for Walter Trout on his Spring tour including a date in his home town of Newcastle. ADVERTISING: Classic Rock (issue 170), R2, Blues In Britain Issue 169 of Classic Rock features the track Time Is Running Away on their front cover CD and has a piece on Mitch Laddie inside

Second album for Mitch, and a move from Provogue and out of the shadow of the likes of Joe Bonamassa to the emerging Mystic Records label. This sees Mitch really pull out the stops and eclipse his accalimed debut album This Time Around.

Burning Bridges is a self-produced tour-de-force, kicking off with the dynamic and powerful Time Is Running Away and the biting Paper In Your Pocket before hitting the funky groove as only Mitch can for Would You and What Are You Living For, before the instrumental Changing Tides & Burning Bridges give us time to catch out breath and then he's off again. The Marvin Gaye cover is a bold step; okay, Mitch may not sing like Marvin Gaye, though there's nothing wrong woth his vocals so far; however, Marvin couldn't play guitar like Mitch, so its a fair trade; he's plugged into the sort of powersource that propells spaceships. Heart rending blues ballad, Give You The World gives us chance to calm back down, before Mitch revisits his instrumental tribute to idol Eric Johnson.

This is the sort of album and performance you'd expect of someone 21 years in the business, not someone just 21 years on the Earth. Not only does Mitch push himeself, he also brings out the best in his band members. Has to be one of the best British blues/rock albums you'll buy this year, and maybe for a few.

Excellent young blues player from the NE. Seen him supporting Walter Trout in Glasgow and thought he did the better set as his influences and styles are more diverse. His band were excellent as well .... if you get the chance go and see him live but until then buy the albums

Mitch has released his long awaited follow up to debut `This Time Around' and it was well worth the wait. A more mature cd both lyrically and musically showing styles as varied as rock, blues and jazz fused together in such a way that you would not believe someone so young was behind it all.
The cd consists of eleven tracks including a cover version of Marvin Gaye's `Inner City Blues' and two instrumentals featuring a re-working of Mr Johnson from his debut cd now titled `Mr Johnson Revisited' and the wonderful `Changing Tides And Burning Bridges'.

There are some great rocking blues tracks with the awesome `Take A Bite' that has some vitriolic lyrics to accompany some equally hard edged guitar work. The song is in good company as the classy `Paper In Your Pocket' and `Time Is Running Away' keep up the heavy opening vibe to the cd.

On the more gentler side we have some funkier songs with `Would You' ,'What Are You Living For' and `Gettin' It Right' with the slowed down `Give You The World' which is slowly becoming my favourite on the cd.

Walter Trout has said that Mitch the best young guitarist in the world, I have been singing Mitch's praises for some time too, if he carries on producing cd's of this quality and higher, there might not be much doubting the statement.
