Product Description

Product Description

Jury duty is not how newspaper reporter Alex Chapa (Killing Red, Mourn the Living) wants to spend his day. But when he learns Chicago Homicide cop Jacqueline Daniels (Whiskey Sour, Shaken) will play a key role in the trial, his curiosity gets the better of him—with potentially lethal results.

Part whodunnit mystery, part courtroom thriller, Burners is the second team-up between Chapa and Daniels (after Floaters). Loaded with suspense, humor, and twists, Burners is a perfect introduction to two bestselling authors, while also a treat for longtime fans.

About the authors:

J.A. Konrath has sold more than half a million ebooks on Amazon. He also writes horror under the name Jack Kilborn (Afraid, Trapped, Endurance). His Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels thriller Stirred hit #1 on the Kindle Top 100 bestseller list.

Henry Perez has worked as a reporter in the Chicago area for more than a decade. His Alex Chapa thriller Mourn the Living hit #1 on the Kindle Top 100 bestseller list and was named one of the best crime novels of the year by The Strand Magazine.

Another night's sleep lost... 24 Jan 2012
By Tom Schreck - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
This happened with Floaters, the last time these two teamed up. I set out at 9pm to read twenty or so pages before bed and the next thing I know I've screwed myself out of night's sleep to get to the ending.

This book is easy to get lost in and the meshing of the styles is a real treat. The balance of humor and drama isn't done well very often but here Konrath and Perez nail it. Separately these guy rock and together it's like having front row tickets to a mystery all star game.

Blisteringly Good! 26 Jan 2012
By William B. Crouch - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I loved this book! I've read all of the Jack Daniels books by J.A. Konrath and also Perez's standalone projects. What's so cool about this is that it's new territory for both writers, with this collaboration delving into legal thriller territory. Anyone who has ever been in a courtroom, worked in the legal profession, or especially, served on jury duty, is going to devour Burners faster than a box of chocolates. A spellbinding read.

Burners- I didn't loose any sleep or get any blisters. 9 Feb 2012
By J. K. White - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Mr. Perez must have some kind of blackmail material on Mr. Konrath. Very tame for something involving Konrath. No spinning back kicks, not blood and guts and no comic relief from Harry McGlade. But all in all I certainly liked it. I liked the approach of one chapter Chapa, one Chapter Daniels taking different angles to the end result. I liked this story more than "Floaters". I haven't read any of Mr. Perez's stand alone books so I think I will give one a try.
