If you are a Burn Notice fan then this comes highly recommended. It is a sort of prequel, providing a back story for Bruce Campbell's character, Sam Axe.
It is directed by Jeffrey Donovan, who plays Michael Westen the star of Burn Notice and he also makes a brief appearance here. The film is consistently amusing and genuinely involving. However it does play like a modern version of the A Team, and was clearly done on a budget. While the cast are decent enough, there is little use of extras, and despite actually filming in Columbia, for the most part it looks like they were filming on a golf course somewhere. I've never been to South America, but in Romancing the Stone it looked tremendous, here, not so much.
They could have got round this by filming scenes in the rain, picking better locations and taking the script writers along to actually fit the script to the locations. The scenes of conversations in vehicles with some very obvious green screen are particularly bad.
However these are minor complaints, this is a lot of fun, there are some decent extras, a short but funny spoof documentary, and a ComicCon appearance with Bruce hamming it up outrageously, as usual.
This won't win any new fans for the franchise, but a decent spin off.
