Crystal Hubbard obviously took time to lovingly craft a likeable pair in Cinder and Giani. I especially admired the natural and convincing dialogue she constructs for her characters with even the secondaries having interest and depth. The basic outline of the story is woman flees abusive (in the extreme) ex-husband and meets her knight in shinning armour who helps her to live and love and again. However, the author fleshes the story out beautifully. She places a red herring in the story which neatly serves up a small mystery towards the end of the book. I think the story works well and is worth investing some time in - the beginning and end of the book does have some violent scenes in but that is not surprising given the subject matter. There are quite a few sex scenes in the story but they are by no means repetitive which can often be the case. As a little aside I really liked the character (Zebulon) who, with his family, was used to introduce the horrific events leading up to Cinder's flight. I think the fact that this minor character is so vivid serves to demonstrate just how well the author worked on her characterisation.

Shocklingly Amazing 21 Oct 2011

Honestly speaking it took me a while to read this story due to the graphic and violent elements of the introductory pages. My heart sank and there were moments that made me sick to the point of no return. But, I pull through and happened to enjoyed the story. The sex scenes were gracefully expressed and steaming hot. Though there were some confusion regarding whether one of the character's name were Gian or Gianni, it was well written and the story flowed in a harmonious way.I am sure there are females who have been battered by their once love ones and unfortunately never regain control of their life. Well, thankfully the main characters Cinder and Gian live to tell the tale. Apart from the saddness and fear that followed Cinder, she has had proud moments with Gian and thankfully, she has had Zae, her best friend, to add a sense of humour to the storyline.I 100% recommend this book, however, if you have a weak stomach for domestic violence, please skip the introductory pages and start from chapter 1. As the story continues you would covers what has been written in the introduction.

An excellent read. I highly recommend this book. It is refreshing to read an interracial book that is well written.
