I bought this album after seeing Juliet at the Empire pub in Belfast. I was quite honestly, bowled over by the beauty of her strange voice, the refreshing newness of her lyrics and the simplicity of her music. If you like upbeat, funky, yet slightly bluesy songs with strong lyrics and very memorable tunes buy this. Simply one of the best albums I've heard in a long time, if you are in search of something new, buy this, you won't be disappointed.

Simply superb 16 Mar 2005
Format:Audio CD
Having heard a few of her songs on Wogan I decided to investigate further and I am so glad I did. This album (and her subsequent one) is simply superb. Top class songwriting, excellent musicianship from Juliet and her band all topped off with that haunting Northern Irish brogue.

If you think of a mix of Edie Brickell and Dolores O'Riorden (from the Cranberries) you'd be heading in the right direction. Songs are beautifully crafted and produced - the CD hasn't been out of my player since I bought it. Highly recommended.

Check out her album 'Season of the Hurricane' too - very different from this but it continues to show Juliet's talent.

Discovered Juliet Turner when she was supporting Joan Armatrading recently. She has a haunting captivating voice that shimmers with purity. Her lyrics might be a bit Upper VIth English Lit student-y at times but the music is a real discovery. Buy this CD and start namedropping her before the masses discover her and jump on the bandwagon. And incidentally Terry Wogan apparently loves her -- and look what he did for Eva Cassidy!

Juoiet Turner Burn the Black Suit
Fabulous lyrics with a gorgeous Omagh accent and great music. Like listening to Mary Black after several pints of Guinness.

I do not like Thee Doctor Fell
Turner's first and finest album to date, with some understated vitriol in the lyrics hinting at a darker side; this CD showcases an artist who refuses to be labelled; consequently... Read more

A bird's album
Even though I bought this for the bird, you can't help liking it. Sorry to say is a class tune -- and actually pretty much all of it is listenable. Plus, she's from Omagh too. Read more

As many others, heard a couple of Juliet's songs on Terry Wogans show and what a pleasure it is to listen to the whole album! Brilliant. Thank you.

I saw Juliet Turner when she was on tour and bought the album afterwards. Turner's songs are moving, quirky and entertaining, she combines Irish folk with other genres. Read more

Inimitable, wonderful
This album is so unlike anything else I have heard - so don't believe people who say Juliet Turner is the New anyone - she may have many influences, but this album is unique.

One to Watch
Having seen Juliet support Bob Geldof in Jan 2004, I instantly wanted her album.. Not disappointed. She's a bit like an Irish Alanis Morissette! A huge future, see her now.
