For starters, this book really is a bargain price: Dita could easily have priced this at £30 or £40. It's a substantial, heavy hardback, full of quality glossy pages. The book is split into two sections- the front is Burlesque and the Art of the Teese, but flip the book over and the book is called Fetish and the Art of the Teese. Each section equates to pretty much half of the book, so there is no preference shown for one or the other. Inside, most of the full page photos are accompanied by a page of text, so it's not just a book of photos, there is also a lot about Dita herself. She reveals her style inspirations, favourite designers, how she styles herself, the history of Burlesque, her favourite dancers, her tips & techniques and some autobiographical detail. All of the photos are very artistic and there is some nudity. If you are interested in fetish, burlesque, erotica, photography, dance or just Dita herself, then I really recommend this book because I don't think you will be disappointed by the sheer scope and depth of this jam-packed book.

A simply stunning book, visually a portfolio of some of the best photographs ever taken of one of my all-time favorite models, erotic dance and renowned beauty, Dita Von Teese.
Dita does not disappoint, any fact, relevant to the history of burlesque is included here. It is interesting, fascinating and stimulating reading, in fact I could not put this book down.
It is also a 'tour de force' showing Dita's deep love of her subject and her research into it, this is no light weight essay on striptease but a fun and enjoyable read on female and male fantasy. The other half of the book devoted to Fetishism has a detailed analysis of such fetishes as stockings, shoes, feet, rubber and leather.
I can't recommend this book highly enough.

So finally it's out, having been put back seemingly time and time again, but it has to be said - it was worth waiting for.
This is a beautiful book, a decent-sized, hefty coffee table tome, packed to the gills with photos spanning Dita's career, covering pin up, fetish and burlesque. It all makes for fantastic eye candy, and the writing's pretty nifty, too.
Whether you're specifically a Dita fan, or are just keen on stylish, elegant glamour photography, this is well worth getting hold of.

Many applaud Dita for helping bring burlesque to the attention of the masses and some feel cheated as there are so many other fantastic burlesque artistes out there that aren't getting quite the same recognition. Whichever catagory you fall into you'd be lying if you said you didn't like this book.
It is a fantastic price you get some much for your money - two books in one for that fact. I always have this book out on my coffee table and its always picked up and flicked through by visitors and proves to be a real talking point. There are a lot of Dita's own personal memories, tips and opinions in this book and I found myself quite often jotting down names and places to google and find out more about. She certainly is a well researched and passionate person and makes no claims to be the best out there which is rather humbling.
This book is a feast for your eyes and a good investment piece (at a barganous price!)

I adore Dita, I'd love to kidnap her and keep her under my bed but alas it is not to be.
I loved that this book came in two parts, the front has dita in softer, artistic glamour poses, and the back more fetish and burlesque glamour. The book is a little basic, with bullet points which does give off a little "dummies guide" kind of feel...but over all its worth the money.

When I got this book in my hands it felt like all my birthdays and christmas had come at once You have the sweet sugary side to titilate you and mesmorize you.

Then comes the dark and sleek fetish side...what a book! Highly recommended. Men if it's for you it's classy stuff you wont be afraid to hide from your woman, and girls it shows us all how to to be that little bit more galmorous! Fantastic!

First off it's a visually stunning book and it's full of Dita looking absolutely gorgeous. Also I love the quirky aspects of Dita's writing and I found it very informative on the background of Burlesque. It's very interesting so I strongly recommend it.

By Dr. Delvis Memphistopheles TOP 500 REVIEWERVINE VOICE on 3 April 2010
Format: Hardcover
Dita is a beaming star projecting herself into a silent night sky, sparkling amongst the female constellations. Cultivating a new feminine style based on a golden template, bringing back the tease into feminimity, the shine of sheer glamour.

A much needed revolt ,as the late 60's sackcloth culture and early 70's high culture obliterated women's glitter as oversized asexual clothing took centrestage. Dita's dream march helped has obliterated denim flares and sports clothes, in return for erecting the 1940's, combed with the best of the 50's and 70's; a neopunk burlesque fetish style. Incorporated in the Torture Garden Dita of delight Dita found an audience, creating a critical mass within the clubs to relaunch a new feminimity onto the catwalks and eventually (we hope and secularly pray) it will hit the streets.

Ironic as it was on the streets of the 70's/80's the styles were borne by gothic princesses, rockabilly queens and punk empresses. Dita has juxtaposed the recently new with the magic of 30's-50's Hollywood when women from Jean Harlow, Mae West, Marylin Monroe, Jean Simmons, Rita Hayward combined with Bettie Page, Mammie Van Doren, Lilly St. Cyr shimmering strutting and projecting a singeing folk memory in celluloid, print and on slide recreating their never fading beauty.

The book is split into two halves, one side burlesque and the other is S&M. The pictures are numerous, take with care to frame the subject and bring out the glamour.

This book is a rich weave of imagery that could resurrect the dead with the promise that someone somewhere is living. On this basis it needs to be handled with care.
