Having enjoyed Anne's Shetland series I thought I would give Burial of Ghosts a try. Unfortunately I have been unable to finish it. There are only a few books I have not persevered with but this is one of them. I found the writing rather amateurish, short sentences with a lack of depth or description. The plot was unbelievable and disjointed. A shame asI did enjoy her other works.

Having read other AC books I found this very heavy going and so much concentration on the lead character who was so confused in her life and contacts that I too was confused. Still the plot was intriguing and meant that I had to plough on to find out what I seemed to be missing - fortunately many of the author's books are very much better

I downloaded this as I really love Vera. Reading about my home county makes me wish I could get back more often than I do. It's not just the story that comes to life but the surroundings too. I couldn't stop reading and it took me to the penultimate chapter to work out who the killer was. I shall be reading more.

A nice east read but a disappointment after enjoying other Ann Cleeves novels so much. The main character although likeable enough had SO many issues it was unreal and irritating.
One of the things that attracted me to it was the reference in the blurb to Marrakech and indeed that's all it was ,could have been anywhere and certainly never benefitted by using that location or even describing the vibrancy of it well.
During parts I was bored. It gave me the tangled web but never the less somehow failed me. I will however look forward to the few Shetland novels I have missed.

I have enjoyed this author's other books about Jimmy Perez and Vera but I was disappointed in this book. The old saying "you can't judge a book by its cover" needs to be updated to "you can't judge a book by its kindle extract"! I felt quite bored but ploughed through to the end!

Interesting and gripping story but didn't enjoy it as much as the Vera Stanhope series.

A good read but disappointing compared with previous novels by this author. Maybe it was written before she developed her characteristic gripping style.
