Product Description

Product Description

Burgundy, the hilly area of eastern France is known worldwide for its diverse selection of wines. 60,000 acres of land are in use for wine production from which comes some 200 million bottles of wine. One-third of the regions wine is red (“rouge”) and two-thirds white (“blanc”) wine.

Dijon is the capital of the Burgundy region and is also the centre of distribution and communications in the area. Dijon is just over an hour and half by high speed (TGV) train from Paris or a more sedate train journey from Basel or Geneva.

The Burgundy region has five villages distinguished as “the prettiest villages of France” as well as three World Heritage Sites and a very unique medieval building project. There are many events and festivals which celebrate wine, history, art and life so you will be sure to find something to suit your taste.

Pros: gives addresses, phone numbers, & websites for each place. Descriptions are short, concise.
Cons: very short descriptions of recommended sites, minimal historic background, context. No maps. Photos on page are unrelated to verbiage on same page. Would not purchase again.
