Review

The Royal Wedding reminded us that we all need a bit of bunting from time to time and Kate is bang on trend with this book. We love the Twenty to Make series and this fun addition shows how to make 20 gorgeous bunting designs in stunning fabrics and finishes. Perfect sewing projects to adorn the home and garden, these bunting designs are also fabulous for parties, weddings or to celebrate Christmas. Full sewing patterns and templates are included, as well as full instructions for each project and beautiful photographs. For a small book, it packs a huge punch and is crammed with masses of ideas.-Machine Knitting Monthly Sophisticated, vintage or quirky - bunting is the modern way to decorate the home or garden. This latest in the '20 to make' series, just published by Search Press, is packed with quick, easy and affordable styles for all occasions. Beautifully presented in full colour this is a delightful little book - a bargain at GBP4.99 - particularly appealing to the young-at-heart.-East Kent Embroiderers' Guild Some of my longstanding readers may remember that I have a penchant for jolly bunting about the place. So Kate Haxell's book Twenty to Make: Bunting and Pennants is just the book I needed to help me along my way. At a very reasonable price, this little book packs in a lot of ideas for bunting of all shapes and sizes, and for different situations. I have found lots of ideas in the book for bunting to enhance our luxury shed, and generally to prettify my life. And yes, this is a wonderful way to use up those orts and scraps of fabric in your stash, making it a Very Thrifty purchase. So all in all, a jolly nice little book, full of jolly nice bunting.-littlecottagecomforts.blogspot.com Bunting is perfect for summer parties and with this little book you'll find plenty of ideas for making it. But as you'll discover, it isn't just limited to party time - there are plenty of ideas here to brighten up daily life, be it a banner over a bed or a sweet shelf edging. Each of the patterns is clearly written and many of them are perfect for beginners.-Handmade Living A book about bunting, surely not, but here it is. Kate Haxell has written a delightful little book on bunting and pennants. With beautiful coloured pictures of all the designs, detailed techniques and clear and easy to follow instructions, this book is ideal for those new to sewing as well as inspiration for the more experienced. From the simplest of shapes, squares and triangles, to the more detailed trees and butterflies, and using a variety of fabrics, cottons through to organza and lace, there is something here for all occasions. As Kate says, bunting doesn't have to be miles long or just for outdoors, so if you need a decoration for your home or have a party to plan, Queen's Jubilee or the Olympics, this will be a very useful book to have on your shelf.(Jenny Bass)-West Country Embroiderers

Oh so easy 8 July 2011
Format:Paperback
I ordered this book on a whim but am so delighted that I did. I have had a yearning to make bunting from recycled (upcycled) clothing / fabric pieces for some time. This book is full of inspiration. I am looking forward to making the Christmas tree bunting and the pom-pom bunting. Friends and family have been forwarned that their homes will be bedecked with bespoke bunting come the festive season. i want to make some bunting for the garden, church hall, office ...... I have a cunning plan to beautify the world, one piece of bunting at a time.

This book is part of the 20 To Make Series which are small books with 20 different projects on a common theme. I will admit I never thought there were 20 different types of bunting, but I was definitely proved wrong! Each of these projects are distinctly different from the other, some are seasonal such as Christmas bunting and Valentine's bunting and other use different materials and shapes to create a whole new look.

There is bunting for every occasion, as well as for every room of the house, from the very simple `Almost Instant Bunting' to the more complicated `snow Flake bunting'. Even I, who to be honest have never really seen the appeal of bunting, am very tempted to have a go at some of these projects! The author makes it look very easy with clear instructions and inspiring photos.

surprising variety 18 Oct 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a decent book. It is a small book; only A5, but I bought it from Amazon for less than the RRP of £4.99 and it was definitely worth the money.
My concern on purchasing the book was whether 20 variations on a basic bunting pattern were actually possible and that potentially I was simply buying a book of `colour ways'. This was certainly not the case.
The book has 20 completely different techniques using various stitches, both with a sewing machine and by hand and is actually quite inspiring.
The photographs are beautiful and show various styles on bunting in different settings to show how you can create a decoration for any room or occasion.
There is even a section at the front with step by step instructions on various hand stitches, which comes in really handy as you get further into the book, especially for a relative newbie to some of the more advanced sewing techniques: like me.
All in all I'd consider this an inexpensive, informative, useful book.

Pretty, but...
This little book has a few pretty ideas, but really not worth the money. It doesn't contain any templates and expects you to still have your school geometry set.

Just okay.
Lovely designs but in all honesty, dont bother in buying, try borrowing it from a library instead. The offer price is still expensive for a book such as this!
