I am a lazy cook and Measure my ingredients with cups and spoons rather than scales,so this book is an absolute godsend, to me.
I say it's on par with the old be-ro book because of the old fashioned cake recipes and breads that I grew up on. These recipes are great old-fashioned flavourful, sugar full recipes that the average Brit grew up on before the food police got involved with our recipe books.
This book is a small paperback 13 x 21cm
The book is set into different categories:
*Cakes from scratch 13 double sided pages of Rich, Moist, Fool Proof cakes. These are amazing cakes and I can't big them up enough.
*Cakes from Mixes 9 double sided pages (yes it would seem some americans sure love to pretend to bake.) this part isn't completely useless only partially. Yellow cake is simply a basic 1lb cake/bog standard sponge cake! for the average baker like me who knows their way around what makes a sponge cake work just take little snippets and play around to make different flavours. some where the whole recipe seems to be pakages thrown together just discard those! (I have no idea why anyone would pay for them? just leaving it to the professional and buy from your local supermarket or bakery.
* Bread Quick & Yeasts 10 pages (I particularly like cottage walnut bread)
* Entrees
* Salads
* Deserts
* Glazes and Sauces
I have created almost all from scratch Bundts in this book and have not altered the recipes much at all, I have followed the instructions precisely and had perfect results each time,
