Thank goodness for Zoe Barnes! An intelligent and assertive career driven young woman, Taz, is the protagonist of this fantastic novel. Taz is dumped by her boyfriend who is having an affair with her flat mate, and then discovers she is pregnant.
The novel was fresh and exciting because of the descriptions of Taz's career in RETAIL! Not journalism or publishing. Thank you Zoe Barnes for realising we aren't all in journalism working for a women's magazine. But readers have ordinary lives. This was great as I could relate to the competition, and understand the problems experienced by Taz in a cut throat organisation.
My favourite character was Mandy who was not a stereotype problem teenager, but conveyed the hardships experienced in a poor neighbourhood. I hope that the author takes "Mandy" on to adulthood and gives us further insight into this intelligent, hard working and determined young mother.
Bumps was a fascinating page turner. I sat on the settee and read all weekend until I had finished. And I've been won over, and I shall definitely read "Hitched" and "Hot Property".
