I'm just returning from Tenerife after ten days and have to say that this little insight into the world of adventuring by bus has made my trip the most memorable by far to this fascinating island; helped by great weather.

'Bumping About Tenerife' was read before I left so I bought the Tenerife Bus & Touring Map (also from Amazon) to plan my adventures. On arrival I walked down to Las Americas bus station, bought a Bono-Via ticket and picked up the latest Titsa bus timetable (Horario) so from day one I was into the adventuring by bus. I know this island well as a hiker, using the author's Walk! Tenerife book and Hikers Maps, but this new bussing experience really opened my eyes to what fun you can have at pocket money prices.

I've discovered Flashpoint in El Medano along with the grounded starship house. Experienced the debateable delights of La Laguna bus station on my way into the Anaga. Riden the longest fastest bus ride on the island - Las Americas to Puerto da la Cruz. Ridden the tram, or Tren, in the front seat both ways - if there is just one ride you do in Tenerife this is it.

Walking I've done a bit but bussing is so much fun, so easy, and adventures just happen. I'll have to save the north coast adventure for my next visit but I'm asking myself why aren't there more books like this for more destinations. I think of myself as an experienced traveller and hiker but it has opened my eyes to the fun and adventure of bus travel despite being a confirmed car driver - perhaps those should be 'green eyes'.

You could use this as an armchair read or take it along with you if visiting Tenerife, following in the author's footsteps. He obviously knows his stuff and has an easy converstional style. I believe this would enhance any visit to the island - and should entice more people onto the buses which has to be a good thing all round!

Titsa Buses 2011 7 April 2012
My partner and I have visited Tenerife every year since 2004 and have done all the usual tourist attractions by organised jeep/coach. But last year on the recommendation of a friend, we used the Titsa buses and it was a great cheap way to get around the island. We visited loads of places for a fraction of the price of an official tour. Have ordered this book on recommendation of same friend so that we can do some more unusual trips this June, can't wait!!
