I have always felt that my general knowledge let me down, so when my sister asked me to start accompanying her to the local pub's weekly quiz night I was mortified at the thought! The embarrasement and frustration of not being able to answer many questions was not an enjoyable prosepct, so I had a look at the pub quiz/general knowledge books Amazon have to offer and decided to purchase this one. It is fabulous. What I immediatly loved was the straightforward format and the great mix of questions, ranging from showbiz to politics and all modern, current and up to date. It has improved my general knowledge without doubt. I love reading through it of an evening and learning some great facts and jogging the old grey matter, "Oh yes of course I knew that, and oh gosh well I never knew that!" It is interesting, fun and as well as improving my general knowledge no end, it is also boosting my confidence. It is great to feel a little more knowledgable and better informed. As for the pub quizes, well I do feel a slight cheat as yes a few questions have already popped up that feature in the book (but hey no one needs to know how I knew the answers!) I may never be an Einsten but this book is enabling me to feel a little less of a fool round that pub table!

If you watch a lot of quiz shows and go to plenty of pub quizzes, eventually you will start to hear the same questions. But this book truly is a bumper edition. There are questions on a huge range of subjects of varying degrees of difficulty, and there is loads of stuff that will be new to even the die-hard quizzer. The layout of the book is really easy to follow, with rules for 'proper' pub quiz leagues, but also options for those who want a more informal session - or even to dip in on their own to test their brain-power with the quickfire questions. Those who like to show off will find plenty of fodder, but there also questions that younger or less-experienced quizzers can tackle, as well as those that can be guessed with a bit of basic general knowledge and a dollop of luck. There are hundreds of questions to go at, making this book great value.

I run a monthly quiz,offering six rounds of ten questions.
I like the three level approach used in these books for I always hope to get an average score better than 50%

Disappointing!
The nature of the questions is probably fine if you are over 50! However, the music and entertainment round was all fairly old school - not very helpful for younger players. Read more

Made a great present
