Disappointing.
Sadly, this is the word that probably best sums up this DVD game. When I first saw it, I had to buy it straight away as I'm a fan of the gameshow and was really looking forward to the prospect of playing it at home.
Sadly, it wasn't quite was I was expecting. For me, these were things that let it down:
1. There were no voices of Jim Bowen or Tony Green.
2. A poor attempt at recreating the famous prizeboard round and much loved "Iiiiiiiiiiin One!!" prize commentary (Just wasn't the same without Tony Green's hilarious cringeworthy descriptions!!).
3. The actual throwing of the darts for all the rounds was confusing. The actual aiming mechanism was straight forward, however when you stopped it over the area you wanted, it would end up nowhere near it and this became frustrating after a while.
4. EVERY team gets to play the prize board round (regardless of how many points you've racked up in the "Pounds for Points" round) and therefore can potentially outscore you and beat you to the final "101 or more" round for Bully's Star Prize.
5. The transitions between different bits of the game is a bit slow and so the whole game can take quite a long time to finish.
To give a positive point though, as a stand alone darts quiz game it's actually still quite good fun but is best played with a crowd of friends or family to make it more entertaining.
However, if you're a fan of the gameshow and were, like me, imagining this DVD game to include things like video clips and music from the show taking you into each round, the voices of Jim Bowen and Tony Green and generally all the fun and atmosphere of the real TV show, then you will be disappointed and so I wouldn't recommend buying this game.
I just feel they haven't made much of an effort with this and it could've been SO much better than it is, but perhaps with the technological restrictions of a DVD player plus possible copywrite issues from the program makers this meant that this was as much as they could do.
