For holidays in Bulgaria, this is a useful, clearly written phrase book. The fact that it has Bulgarian and an anglicised pronounciation is excellent as the Cyrillic alphabet is the major stumbling block for people like me.

This is a useful little book (96 pages) intended for holidays. Beginning with an introduction to the Cyrillic (Russian) alphabet, there are then sections on all the usual topics; everyday conversation, menu decoder, travel...At the back is a small English-Bulgarian and Bulgarian-English dictionary. It's helpful that all the Bulgarian words are given both in Cyrillic script and in English transcription.
There are little colour photos throughout accompanying interesting facts on the country.

This is an easy to read, concise phrase guide that I would recommend to anyone travelling to Bulgaria. Not only does it include numerous Bulgarian phrases written in Cyrillic but also the direct English pronunciation.

It covers all your basic holidaying needs including topics such as accommodation, transport, food, shopping and emergencies. It also includes an English-Bulgarian and Bulgarian-English basic dictionary.

Plus it's got lots of little hints and tips on Bulgarian culture which adds a nice touch.
