3.0 out of 5 stars Detailed construction practices, 18 Jul 2003
This book boasts some very useful features indeed. It gives a basic introduction and coverage of construction practices and proceedures, along with some excellent diagrams.
Each section describes the practices involved in the different areas, as well as the materails used and their many characteristics and constraints.
However, this book has large bodies of text which somehow dont seem to reflect the required detail. It never seems to go beyond the basic principles, and only touches on these in the most simplistic way.
The diagrams however, are of the highest quality. There are many of them, all layed out in a professional manner and well annotated. They would be ideal for reference purposes and a very notable example of how a student should aim to present their own work.
Additionally, the comments on the different types of material can be useful as many other trade literatures fail to do this.
To summarise, this book is a very basic introduction to the methods and principles of building, ideal for a student at lower level. It is not one to be used at an advanced level, but would prove a useful guide to the newcomer.

Although Building Technology is a good reference for building, some items and practices could be out dated.
