Engineering services within buildings account for ongoing energy use, greenhouse gas contribution and life safety provisions. This fifth edition of a well-used text provides study materials for builders, architects, building surveyors, mechanical and electrical services engineers. The work is suitable for self-study, supporting lectures, assignments and examination preparation for construction industry technicians, undergraduates and post-graduates throughout the UK and around the globe.
Multiple-choice questions are now included in each chapter to further test understanding of important principles and applications. Lecturers have access to over 1,000 multiple-choice questions downloadable from the publisher’s website in the accompanying Manual. These enable rapid generation of teaching presentations, class tests, assignments and examination papers. Many of the numerical examples and questions have been changed and updated.
Heating, air conditioning, transportation systems, water, gas, electricity and drainage with a chapter on room acoustics leads into spreadsheet use. Further application software is available in the author’s Building Services Engineering Spreadsheets book, while Air Conditioning: A practical introduction, provides design principles and explanations.
