Book Description

This friendly and accessible guide leads teachers and students through the creation of a school Web site, providing a hands-on project and learning experience for both. Students learn to participate in the Web not only as surfers but also, more importantly, as authors and creators. The big picture is presented, including basic HTML, using a Web editor, standards, bandwidth, search engine placement, and animation. The details are fleshed out with simple, step-by-step directions, making this the ideal choice for beginners wishing to create a simple Web site and to gain a better understanding of the Web itself.

From the Author

Hi, I’m Wanda Wigglebits, the author of “Building A School Web Site.” In my book, I encourage folks to actually write some of the language that makes the Web tick – Hyper Text Markup Language, or HTML. Like learning arithmetic before using a calculator, learning a little HTML not only provides a crucial framework for understanding the Web, it provides an important skill and a sense of mastery. And anyway, it’s fun! So no shilly-shallying about learning some HTML! It’s not rocket science. You can do it, girlfriend. And you too, big guy! It’s fun. Trust me, honey. When you put those first few lines of HTML in a file and then look at them in your browser, you’ll feel like you can conquer the world!
