Product Description

Product Description

This book provides just what you need to know as you plan and create your SharePoint team site. Whether you’re putting together one team site for a small group or several sites for a number of groups, you’ll find the steps you need to design, create, organize, customize, and share the site(s) with your team.

Who This Book Is For?

Specifically, the information here was written for the following folks:

• IT administrators charged with setting up team sites in SharePoint Online

• Managers who want to develop a “space in the cloud” for remote workers

• Team leaders who are working with both in-office staff and remote contractors

• Small business owners who want a central place to store business-critical files and data so that staff can access the information they need from anywhere

• Individual Office 365 users who want a secure place to post and share files with others

What’s in This Book?

Chapter 1, “Getting Started with SharePoint Online,” shows you how to log on to your Office 365 account, display your SharePoint team site, and display the team site in Editing mode.

Chapter 2, “Thinking through Your Site,” helps you plan your team site and identify key features you need to include in the site.

Chapter 3, “Preparing Your Team Site Collection,” walks you through adding a title and description for your team site. You’ll also discover how to enter a web address so your team can move to the site, choose the navigation style you want to use, and find out how to get help.

Chapter 4, “Getting the Site Look and Feel You Want,” shows you how to customize the look of your site by choosing a different theme for your site collection.

Chapter 5,” Inserting and Editing Pictures,” demonstrates what you need to do to add photos to your team pages. You’ll also learn how to do simple editing on the page in SharePoint Online.

Chapter 6, “Creating Lists and Libraries,” shows you how to add lists and libraries, upload and work with files, customize library views, and check files in and out in your SharePoint team site.

Chapter 7, “Inserting and Customizing Web Parts,” introduces you to the idea of web parts and shows you how to add them to your team pages. You’ll also learn how to customize web part settings so you can get just the effect you want.

Chapter 8, “Sharing and Securing Your Team Site,” explains SharePoint user roles and permission levels and shows you how to help you set up the level of security important for your team site.

So now, if you’re ready, let’s get on with creating your first team site in SharePoint Online!

5.0 out of 5 stars Straight to the point 9 May 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Great value for money.
I migrated from OLSB to 365, built my site and then started getting into Sharepoint.
Bought some generic Sharepoint books which were ok but lacked depth and examples or were way over my head.
Great thing about this was I could download it straight away onto Kindle. Its succinct. Lots of diagrams showing you what each thing does and where the various menus can be found.
Saves loads of time fumbling around the various menus thinking I wonder what that does.
Also some very useful warnings about things not try. (like renaming the home page)

Not well written. Written during beta version. Not current with current software. Not detailed. Not worth the price. Only a kindle version which should have been a hint.
