Synopsis

Do you ever wonder why, no matter how hard you try, you can't seem to change your financial position? Or perhaps you are tired of struggling with under-earning, habitual debit, or feeling miserable about your finances. This book is the solution for anyone who deals with habitual less-than-enough or just-enough funds. Now you can learn why you do what you do with your money and how to establish the financial habits that can help you build a strong and secure financial future. Even if you suffer from a sever case of "financial vagueness syndrome", you will be able to follow the simple exercises outlined in this book. This book discusses far more than just financial behaviours. With great insight, Joan Sotkin offers tools for helping you understand your emotional relationship with money and how you are acting out family-of-origin emotional issues through your finances. You will also learn how to alter the thoughts, beliefs, and emotions that create your current financial situation. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

Mind blowing 23 Feb 2006
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
After reading AND doing the exercises you will not look at your financial issues the same way again. It turned my financial thinking 180 degrees for the better. This book approaches your relationship with money from a psychology angle. If still undecided whether to buy, you can make your mind up by checking her weekly podcasts based around the contents of the book. These podcasts seem to reinforce and give kinda like online coaching. Worth 5+ stars easily

Financial mind instantly awaken 22 Feb 2006
By Starter - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
This and other works of Joan transformed my financial thinking 100%. She was the one who really got me to look at the core of my financial issues. After reading you too will not look at any aspects of your finances the same way again. Should you still be undecided in purchasing, her weekly podcasts (on her website Prosperity Place)are great too and to me supplement and reinforce the contents of the book. 5+ stars

Great for those in debt, not for those who want to experience more abundance 22 Feb 2011
By Sarg - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This book is appropriate for those with a very low self-image, who are struggling financially, have a lot of debt, or who prefer to ignore their financial situation all together. However, if you do already experience abundance (and perhaps want more), feel confident with keeping financial records (I'm not talking detailed records, I simply mean tracking how much you earn vs. spend), and perhaps even manage to save a little, this book is not for you. I can see the ability of this book to shift ones financial situation from poor to good, but not from good to great. As others have said, this book makes the connection between emotions and thoughts and ones financial freedom. However, all of the examples given are about really low end of the spectrum, negative thought patterns. The point is to recognize the negative emotions and thoughts that are holding you back, and then shift them. If you already have a positive outlook, feel like things are going well, and perhaps want them to be even better, reading all of these extremely negative thought patterns can have the opposite effect.

A Must Read For Anyone Who Handles Money 7 April 2006
By Lorna Riley - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
With consumer debt in this country reaching an all-time high, this book provides the tools to climb out of the hole and into financial prosperity. Its action exercises end the psychological confusion about money so that anyone can be financial fit. As a former teacher, this book should be a text-book must-read for all graduating students, getting a grip on their finances before it's too late. Bravo Joan!
