Product Description

Review

In the same series as How to Power Tune Alfa Romeo Twin-Cam engines , this 128 page Veloce book on the DCOE and DHLA carburettors, once so familiar in Alfa engine bays, has now entered a third edition and this time in full colour. New illustrations have been added to this popular title and the pictures and diagrams are clear and succinctly labelled. The content covers strip down and inspection, rebuild, manifold preparation and fitting. There are also chapters on air filters and ram tubes, fuel and octane ratings, identifying and choosing components, testing, set-up and problem solving. Everything you might want to know is here in easily digestible form, though this book is inevitably more reference than read . Read this book and you should be able to work on your sidedraught Alfa. --Alfa Romeo Owners Club Magazine

I was very disappointed by this book, as there was no information that could not be gleaned off the internet in 10 minutes, and certainly nothing to enable 'Power tuning' as the title suggests. Even simple areas such as getting the transition stage right are ommitted.

I will be returning my copy as it is not worth having

Excellent information regarding stripping and rebuilding these carburettors. I felt that sizing the chokes could have been better emphasised by the use of graphs as publicised by Webber. This would have helped with engines of varying capacities and maximum peak power RPMs. Other wise an essential book for any DCOE/DHLA newbies and experts a like.

I bought this book as I just bought a car that had a modified Mazda rotary (13B) fitted with a 48 Dell'orto DHLA.

I basically needed to understand the basics of how the carb worked before I could then try and figure how to spend time tuning and diagnosing it. I'm more from a fuel injection/electronic control background so understanding this mechanically complex device needed a bit of research.

This book was a disappointment because it assumes you know how the carbs work. I didn't know and after reading the book, am not that much the wiser.

If you already know how the carbs work, it's probably going to be of use to you, but then you probably don't need a book if you're at that stage in any case!
