Product Description

Review

"This is the greatest car ever made and the greatest car we will ever see in our lifetime." --Jeremy Clarkson, "Top Gear"

Book Description

In 2005, Bugatti launched a car that has single-handedly redefined the notion of a 'supercar'. It was called the Veyron, was reputed to cost £5 million to build and yet only one million euros to buy. It quickly became the most talked about and indeed coveted car of all time. Written with the full co-operation of Bugatti. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

A very unique perspective, almost story of this amazing car - cleverly put together makes it an interesting, whitty and informative read to 'petrol heads' and 'non petrol heads' alike.
I found the book very difficult to put down, however was easy to pick up where I left off time and time again. Between reads I even found my wife having a little sneaky read who has as much interest in cars as a rabbit does in a wilted lettuce! often scaring me by shooting facts such as double clutches and bhp!
An awsome cover photo along with many interesting pictures throughout complimented the dialog giving this the worlds greatest car every bit of awe it deserves.
How clever to write about the Veyron in this way, a far comparison from the normal motoring 'bod' report style.
For an author that has had a life of 'people' books I congratulate him on this very different view....well done!

Quite simply I love the Veyron, always have done - it's a piece of art more than anything and I fear this book may be the closest I'll ever get to owning anything baring the desirable Bugatti logo.

That aside, it's nice to see my passion is shared by others as well. The book is great as it delivers the authors personal feelings without becoming self-indulgent. The fact so many interviews are included with people crucial to the Veyrons creation is fantastic. The balance between the authors take on things and the concrete technical info provided by people like the chief engineer really shows the depth of the content. Not to mention it's also pretty damn funny and for those with limited attention spans like myself, the wealth of photos are great and only enhance this quick and easy read.

Well done!

I was bought this book for my birthday and I could not put it down. I am what you would call a 'petrol head' -I love my cars (have done since I was about 8) but this book takes it beyond the normal run of the mill statistic led publications. It was incredibly inspirational following the author's journey. The insight into how such a fabulous car is created, marketed and manufactured has been written with a true warmth and obvious long term interest. That Martin Roach is a lucky lucky man. Buy it for all your petrol heads NOW!

I am a little sorry to spoil this book's fun of five stars but I must confess that I was a little disappointed after reading it. The book is lacking in any real in depth coverage of VWs development of this awesome car and is pretty thin on technical development. I suppose I should have investigated the book more online before buying but I can't really complain at £12! However the author is not a motoring journalist of car expert. He is a celebrity ghostwriter (Westlife etc) and he is more obsessed with the "bling" and "celebrity" factor of the car than the towering technical achievements of the car. Details of the engine, gearbox and features of the car are reeled off as quoted from the sales brochure with no real analysis and a lot of the book covers the guy trying to blag a test drive in the car.

I am not slating the author for this as obviously his brief was to write a mainstream book that will appeal to the general car enthusiast/Top Gear viewer hence the generally "tabloid" style of the writing. It is no technical bible such as Paul Frere's book on the Porsche 911 nor as other reviews have said in any way like "Driving Passion" the development history of the McLaren F1, although that last book costs £150. By all means if you just want to dream about owning one of these cars and fancy and enjoyable light read then go ahead and buy it but if you are an anaorak/geek like me who wants all the nuts and bolts etc you will not find it here.

This is a great book about the fantastic veyron. Don't expect the simply amazing "driving ambition" (about the mclaren F1) but for the price this book give some nice photos and lots of information about the development of this car. Recommended.

This was bought as a gift for a 'car mad' lad. So it was an instant hit. Also a good looking book to have a round and dip in and out of for years to come.

I enjoyed this book. I wasn't looking for it, so Amazon's "you may like this" worked for me. It was cheap and the reviews were good.

For its price it is very good. I liked the short chapters on trying to arrange a drive. Did he get one? I won't spoil it; buy it and find out. Either way the author ends up happy.
