No!!! ITS THE MOVIE SOUNDTRACK, 4 Dec 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Buffy the Vampire Slayer [Us Import] (Audio CD)
I think the previous reviewer's comments are spot on, but they of course relate to the tv series soundtrack and not to this CD.
That aside, the soundtrack for the movie was probably more worthwhile than its other aspects, so its worth a listen if you like the artists involved.

Clean Cheerleading Fun!, 27 Aug 2007
This review is from: Buffy the Vampire Slayer [Us Import] (Audio CD)
Joss Whedon's original 1992 Comedy Horror is now regarded by many as a landmark in television history due to it forming itself as a stepping stone to the hit Fox show starring Sarah Michelle Gellar. However, there is strong opposition from the Buffyverse canon who monitor all things related to the Television saga, who consider it as an anomaly in Buffy's History.
Although a near calamity in film history, the story of Cheerleading Valley girl Buffy Summers is a romp in stupidity and humour and the soundtrack is hot on its heels. Lets be honest, there is nothing to praise this mismatch of tunes, yet it all seems to fall into place??? How??? The answer is simple, it is daring! The same as its film counterpart, not all has been thought-out here. From its odd array of actors including Kristy Swanson, Rutger Hauer, Luke Perry, Donald Sutherland, David Arquette and Hilary Swank; the album boasts Ozzy Osbourne, Toad the Wet Sprocket, The Cult, diVINYLS and Rob Halford, it is an unhealthy mix of Pop, Rock, Indie, Metal and New Romanticism. BUT... IT WORKS!!!
Not pretentious enough to think it's a masterpiece, but not so much a loser that it doesn't die easy. This soundtrack is yet another reason why this film is still a Cult to both fans of the TV show and beyond.
In the film however, Lothos plays Schumann's 2nd part of Piano Quintet Es-dur op. 44, but this sadly does not make it onto this CD.

I love this CD. It has several mixed artists with a great variety. There is something for everyone. It is brillant for someone who loves soundtracks but is not particulary into pop music.
