Robust and reliable 15 Aug 2008
I am an IT manager working for a group of companies, and have been using these devices for about 2 years. We run 22 of them 24/7, that's 88 hard drives. We have had two of those drives fail in that time, but as they are raid 5, you just replace the dead drive, and rebuild. This is pretty much idiot proof. We run backups to them as an addition to our offsite tapes, and store application media and data images on them. Not one of them have ever lost data. It is fair to say that I would not hesitate to recommend one.

We bought this product to store critical datas trusting the normally redundant RAID 5 configuration.
One day one of the drive became faulty, not a drama you would think...
Not with Buffalo products, our datas were lost and that Terastation unable to rebuild the Array.
From this experience we had a good look for help on the Internet and dwere horrified to discover numerous people having the same kind of troubles.
Buffalo help line was just useless and advised us to look for a data recovery company, wich we did at a cost of £750.
Fortunately we recovered our datas but it was like a miracle.
Please again, have a look yourself on Internet and you will discover that many companies are making good money recovering datas from Buffalo.
