It was really easy to configure. I use Linux so there is no software available, but connected it to the network, got IP from DCHP and was able to connect over http and I changed to static IP.
It has a share pre-configured that I was able to mount as a Windows drive to start copying data across.
Experience from a Windows laptop was as easy just running \\IP and you are done.
It also runs a DLNA server that allows me to see movies (pictures and music too) directly from a TV connected to the same network.
It did a software upgrade which was easy, even though it takes a while to download and install.
Power management is a nice feature that allows you to configure when you want the unit to be up and when sleeping so you don't waste energy. You won't need to worry about noise as there is no fan.
I don't use any type of authorization or remote access but they are available, as well as a BitTorrent client.
