This very cute Fairy Tower is disappointingly made of press board, which is assembled with screws and snap together pieces. If you are familiar with press board, you know that it can not endure the treatment of a typical 3+ year old (which is the age recommendation). I bought this as the "big" Christmas gift for my 4 year old daughter. When I opened it to assemble Christmas eve, I was very upset with the quality, especially considering the price. I would have packed it back in the box and returned it, if it were not Christmas Eve. Also, the fabric around the little foam beds and pillows was glued on - not even sewn - and did not encompass all of the foam - leaving sections on the underside exposed. The two floors in the tower just rest there, and can get pushed up and lodged in, requiring gentle adult assistance to move back into place. This tower truly is adorable, and my daughter loves it, but we can not leave it out for her to play with any time. We keep it in the closet and take it out as she requests it, as we are nervous that she might break it. If you have a very calm, gentle child, I think you would be fine with this toy. If you have a mover and a shaker, it would require adult supervision.
Update - It has now been one+ years since we purchased this castle. It has continued to be taken out occasionally for gentle, supervised use, and sadly, it continues to disappoint. The table and all four chairs that came with it have come unglued, so the stands are no longer attached to the top and seats. The fabric glued to the beds and pillows has fallen off. An easy fix, just use some glue, but still a frustration. I will just make some new covers and sew them on.
