This attractive, large format, 160-page paperback book contains the words and music (pvg music arrangements) to 33 Buddy Holly-associated songs as follows:

Baby I Don't Care

Brown-Eyed Handsome Man
Crying, Waiting, Hoping
Early In The Morning
Everyday
Heartbeat
I'm Looking For Someone To Love
It Doesn't Matter Anymore
It's So Easy
Learning The Game
Listen To Me
Love's Made A Fool Of You
Maybe Baby
Midnight Shift
Not Fade Away
Oh Boy!
Peggy Sue
Peggy Sue Got Married
Raining In My Heart
Rave On
Real Wild Child
Reminiscing
That'll Be The Day
Think It Over
True Love Ways
Valley Of Tears
Well All Right
What To Do
Wishing
Words Of LOve
You've Got Love

Wise Publications have managed to include most of Buddy's best-known songs, and even Real Wild Child that JI recorded after The Crickets got back from their Australia tour in 1958. I'm pleased to say that the book does include the full sheet music rather than just the melody line, as is sometimes the case in song collections.

The book starts with an interesting biographical essay by Elizabeth and Ralph Peer II, written in 1972, shortly after Don McLean's song American Pie had brought about a renewed interest in Buddy's music. There are a few factual errors, but it briefly touches on Buddy's life, music and his lasting influence on an emerging generation of would-be rock and rollers.

The book ends with a 2009 essay by Graham Vickers about Buddy's musical legacy.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful By Mr. J. T. O'ROURKE on 2 Jan. 2010
Format: Paperback
As already said, the book contains some good background text as well as the full sheet music (ie, melody line and full keyboard, as well as guitar chords and fingering diagrams). It is a good format, slightly bigger than A4, the music being very clear and easy to read and with lots of good photos. I'm sure this is a book I will treasure as well as use a lot.
