The Buddhist Himalayas is a stunning and evocative collection of photographs focusing on the lives and culture of the people living in this isolated and little understood part of the world. Breathtaking mystical landscapes and beautiful portraits accompany imformative and thought provoking text which explains Buddhism and how it effects the people of these lands. Captions do not ruin the images but are listed with smaller uinset pictures at the back of the book which I rather liked. This is a book which will serve you well for years and years to come as friends, children and even grandchildren as they grow up will be seduced by the pure beauty encapsulated in these photographs. I have already looked through the book with my 3 year old son who was fascinated by the portriats of elderly Tibetans, their lives etched deeply on their faces and children smiling proudly and serenely as they play in their villages. Some images and text are so evocative they brought tears to my eyes. A truely beautiful book.
