I really enjoyed this book , its a great insight into the way pirates plied there trade in the America's and its an eye opener into what scoundrals us English were in the 1700s . Mind you we also had a lot of heroes .

Only just started reading following a holiday book called The English Monster. This book has started to give me more of an understanding for the pirates that caused havoc against the Spanish but also this has given me a better understanding for how pirates managed to organise themselves with crew. This is a great who's who and although i still havent finished reading it yet I would definately recommend it to others interested in what was happening not only in building the Empire but also buccaneers from other countries. I downloaded free on kindle too.

I have always enjoyed the romantic view of pirates, the flamboyant clothing, their bold exploits, the freedom it's the image we all like to believe unfortunately it's not the truth. This book actually gives you a true insight into the not so glamorous side of pirates and how they were not so charming and bold as we are led to believe through fiction and the movies. It's a charming little book the only criticism I have is it only scratches the surface of the individuals featured and leaves you thirsty for more information on these fascinating men of the sea.
