5.0 out of 5 stars This DVD is one I want. 20 Feb 2013
If this DVD is of a concert that Bryn did in Holland with Edo de Waart in 2002, then I must have it! I had the video on Youtube but it was suddenly erased for"copyright" reasons. So - I hope this is the one. Bryn is absolutely charming and engaging. The one I had shows him rehearsing with the orchestra. His Falstaff "honore" aria had the whole orchestra laughing - his inimitable voice is something not to miss.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Live Performance DVD!! 15 Feb 2003
By "rogbott" - Published on
A common problem with opera and performing arts dvds is that the audio and video is not taken with the dvd format in mind. Recently, Deutsche Grammophon has began reissuing dvds from older performances, remixed in DTS and DD 5.1. However, this concert of Bryn Terfel is the first performance video done with the digital format in mind. The sound and video are superb and there are loads of additional features, including XFI which allows you to jump to interviews in between arias to get indepth answers about why Bryn chose that piece for the concert. Kudos to DG!
On to the actual concert: Bryn is simply at his best. I have seen him perform live three times and was impressed by his energy and ability to communicate with the audience. It is so amazing to see him perform some difficult pieces such as Wotan's Farewell and Falstaff's Honor monologue with such intensity and beautiful line. He sounds incredible and seems to keep getting better and better. The musical theater pieces for the second half of the program are well chosen and makes one wish he would take to Broadway in the near future. I highly recommend this DVD to anyone- from the casual opera fan to keen enthusiasts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Concert by Terfel and Orchestra 26 Jun 2003
By operamaryc - Published on
I've seen Terfel several times and he always blows me away in person. He does so in this concert as well! The orchestra and conducting along with his singing just couldn't be improved upon. A perfectly wonderful concert. The Wagner was beautifully sung and Terfel makes it seem much easier than it is! However, his secret weapon is his ability to communicate, phrase and sing the Broadway show tunes. Each time he performs a selection he makes it new, fresh and his! I loved this DVD and highly recommend it to anyone who loves great music performed by highly trained musicians in a beautiful concert hall. This one is truly special!

5.0 out of 5 stars From a player's standpoint 25 Dec 2008
By M. A. Klerx-Hardie - Published on
I played (tutti viola) in this live performance with Bryn Terfel and I am extremely proud of this concert. Not only was Terfel, as expected, a wonderful, wonderful singer and interpreter of many different genres, but his is also an intelligent, personable and friendly musician to work with. I think that the viewer of this dvd can see and hear how much fun we were having. Watching and listening to thes dvd reminds me why I got into this business anyway!

5.0 out of 5 stars I real treat to see part of Amsterdam and Bryn striding into the Concertgebouw - and the opera selections especially. 24 Jan 2014

I was really delighted by Bryn's reception by the orchestra, Edo de Waart, the conducter, as well as the orchestra. They had such rapport - and Bryn's delivery of the honor aria from Falstaff had everyone laughting - and the audience cheering when it was performed. The other selections were really good also. And his interviews - 2 of them - showed his great charm and easy response to the interviewer.
