The unique talent of Bryars is certainly very well represented by works such as Last Days. Songs are indicative of the naive and romantic essence of his soul, but in a sweet and touching at the same time rigorous way. Fantastic!

Just Listen 20 May 2008
By Giordano Bruno - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD

On the last day
there'll be music,
or the memory of music,
the remnant of ourselves.

The last days will be spent walking
in solitude and silence through a neglected garden
where the flowers bloom profusely
without care.

On the last day there'll be music,
motes of melody afloat in the air
until the Earth's memory of us

When the last days have lasted
long enough,
only the absence of our noises
which we called music

will last.

Amazing 26 Dec. 1999
By Benjamin - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Bryars never seizes to amaze me: everything he thouches seems to turn into gold. Although this doesn't strike me as his 'best' work, it still contains ample beauty to shut me up, and force me to listen. The melodic lines evolve quite fast compared to "After The Requiem", "Jesus' Blood" or "Cadman Requiem"; although the album contains 72 minutes of violin-music, it's never boring.
